James Hampton

James Hampton joined Viridian Financial Group in 2021, bringing over ten years of financial markets experience spanning funds management in the United Kingdom and institutional equity trading at Jarden New Zealand.

Drawing on this breadth of experience, James provides investment advice and portfolio management services to high-net-worth individuals, family groups and community organisations. He designs bespoke, multi-asset portfolios tailored to each client’s specific goals — with access to private markets, direct equities, derivative overlays, margin lending, and tax-aware portfolio construction.

James has the ability to understand each client’s unique financial affairs and goals, then outline a clear solution to achieving them, while advocating for accountability and transparency throughout.

James holds a BCom (Finance and Economics), a Master of Finance from the University of Otago and is an Accredited Derivatives Adviser. Outside of work, James enjoys travelling around the world and making regular trips back to New Zealand to visit the family farm.
