Discretionary portfolio management for your high-net-worth clients
Private Portfolios provides wholesale clients with a dedicated, bespoke investment management service.
Unlike managed accounts, which apply a model portfolio to multiple clients, Private Portfolios constructs and manages a unique portfolio for each client, built around their specific situation, objectives, and constraints.
The Private Portfolio Manager takes responsibility for the portfolio. They know the client’s holdings, their tax position, their income needs, and their investment preferences.
Minimum Required Investment: $1 million per investing entity
Structure: Individually Managed Account
Which client are you thinking of?
Wealth spread across trusts, companies and super.
A model treats each account as if it stands alone. You end up reconciling the overlaps by hand.
One portfolio designed across every entity, so asset allocation, tax and liquidity are managed as a whole.
A large portfolio, and a client who wants to know who runs it.
Clients at this level expect to own shares directly and ask questions of the person making the decisions.
Direct equity holdings and a dedicated Private Portfolio Manager who sits alongside you in client meetings.
Selling legacy holdings would crystallise a large capital gain.
Moving into a model usually means a full transition. Income needs and tax position are secondary.
We build around existing holdings, manage capital gains through the transition, and set the portfolio to the client's income target.
Clients want more than listed markets can offer.
Private and alternative opportunities are hard to source, assess and size for an individual client.
Access to alternative and private market opportunities, assessed by our investment team and sized within the client's portfolio.
Private Portfolios is an extension of your investment offering.
You lead the advice and client relationship. We bring a dedicated Private Portfolio Manager alongside you to deliver deep and personalised investment service for your HNW clients.
We manage each portfolio within the mandate agreed with you and your client, giving you more time to focus on strategy, relationships and growing your business.
Your largest clients can demand a disproportionate share of your time.
Individual holdings, investment research, trading and ongoing monitoring add work that sits outside your usual advice process.
We take on day-to-day portfolio management, from investment analysis and implementation to ongoing monitoring. You gain capacity to focus on client strategy, deepen relationships and build your business.
Complex wealth calls for a deeper investment service.
Building and maintaining that capability within your practice takes specialist people, infrastructure and time.
Give your clients access to specialist portfolio construction, direct equities, managed funds and private market opportunities where appropriate. Your Private Portfolio Manager brings investment expertise into the relationship, working alongside your broader advice.
A new client rarely arrives with a blank sheet.
Existing shares and managed funds can bring embedded gains, concentrated exposures and holdings that no longer fit. Working out what to retain or change takes time.
We analyse existing investments and develop a transition approach around the client's objectives, risk and tax position. You have specialist support to assess what belongs in the portfolio, what needs to change and how to implement those changes.
You need to know the portfolio is receiving ongoing attention.
Between client reviews, markets move, investment views change and portfolio exposures can drift.
A dedicated Private Portfolio Manager knows the client's holdings, objectives and constraints. They monitor the portfolio, reassess investments and act within the agreed mandate, giving you a clear point of accountability for ongoing portfolio management.
Delegating investment decisions still needs to leave room for individual priorities.
Each family has its own goals, income needs, preferences and values. These need to shape how its money is managed.
You and your client help define the investment mandate, including objectives, risk settings, liquidity needs and investment restrictions. We manage day-to-day decisions within those boundaries, with an individual portfolio that can evolve as circumstances change.
You need to stay informed and have support when the conversation gets detailed.
Clients want to understand what they own, what has changed and why.
Daily reporting through adviser and client portals keeps the portfolio visible. Regular investment updates, direct access to the manager and participation in review meetings provide support in a format that suits the relationship, from digital communication to detailed portfolio discussions.
Private Portfolios is available to wholesale clients only, as defined under section 761G of the Corporations Act 2001 (Cth). Advisers are responsible for determining wholesale client status.
How a Private Portfolio is built.
Introduction
Adviser introduces the client and confirms wholesale eligibility. The Private Portfolios team engages to understand the client's financial position, objectives, existing holdings, tax considerations, and income requirements.
Mandate
A Private Portfolio Manager is assigned. The manager and the adviser work together to establish the investment mandate - the specific parameters within which the portfolio will be built and managed.
Construction
The portfolio is constructed. Direct equity selection, asset allocation, and any specific mandate requirements - tax-aware construction, excluded sectors, income targets - are incorporated from the outset.
Ongoing management
The Private Portfolio Manager monitors and manages the portfolio daily. The adviser and client receive regular reporting and direct access to the manager for questions, reviews, and updates.
